Zero Tolerance Policy Against Ragging

Narayan Gayatri College of Health Education maintains a completely ragging-free campus. We ensure a safe, respectful, and highly secure environment for all students.

Institutional Commitment

In strict compliance with the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and the State Nursing Councils, ragging is strictly prohibited on campus, in hostels, and on college transport. Narayan Gayatri College of Health Education treats any incident of ragging as a criminal offense and is committed to fostering an atmosphere of brotherhood, equality, and mutual respect.

What Constitutes Ragging?

Ragging includes any act of physical or mental abuse targeted at another student, whether junior or senior. It encompasses:

Any conduct by words spoken, written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating, or handling a fresher or any other student with rudeness.
Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities that cause annoyance, hardship, physical/psychological harm, or fear in any student.
Asking a student to do any act that they would not normally do, resulting in a sense of shame, torment, or embarrassment.
Any act of financial extortion or forceful financial burden placed on a fresher by senior students.
Any act of physical abuse including assault, stripping, or forcing obscene acts.

Preventive Measures & Institutional Setup

The college has implemented robust mechanisms to prevent and immediately address any grievances related to ragging:

Anti-Ragging Committee A dedicated committee headed by the Principal ensures full compliance with regulations, conducts awareness programs, and immediately investigates any complaints.

Anti-Ragging Squad A vigilance squad that conducts surprise checks in hostels, canteens, and campus grounds to ensure no untoward incidents take place.

Mandatory Undertaking At the time of admission, every student and their parent/guardian must sign an anti-ragging affidavit pledging non-participation in any form of ragging.

Consequences & Punishments

Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offense, the Anti-Ragging Committee may impose one or more of the following punishments upon students found guilty:

Immediate suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
Withholding or withdrawing scholarships, fellowships, and other benefits.
Debarring from appearing in any test, examination, or placement drive.
Suspension or expulsion from the hostel.
Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.
Filing of a First Information Report (FIR) with local police, which may lead to arrest and imprisonment.

How to Report Ragging?

Students are encouraged to report any incident of ragging without fear. The identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential.
